Mo¡§ssbauer Spectroscopy and Its Application
Kim Sang-Yeoun

Kim Dae-Nyoun
Abstract
Mo¡§ssbauer¡¯s discovery and its application has opened a new microscopic method to study in the condensed matter field. The Mo¡§ssbauer resonance line is extremely narrow and allows hyperfine interaction to be resolved and evaluated in a straightforward way. In this paper, Mo¡§ssbauer effect and spectroscopy are descrived and the current status of applications to the condensed matter physics such as Fe(OH)©ý& Fe©üO©ýare reviewed. The isomer shift of Fe ion in Fe(OH)©ýis 0.189mn/sec and 0.221mn/sec to Fe©üO©ý. The quadrupole splitting of these absorbers were also measured as 0.741mm/sec and -0.072mm/sec respectively. Using the hyperfine splitting of Fe©üO©ý, we are able to account that the internal magnetic field at the position of Fe, is 514.92Koe.
